Update

So I’ve been quiet for a while. Nothing new there, this blog seems to go in cycles, anyway, for a while I’ll be posting again, perhaps promoted by the fact that about a month ago I resigned from my current position as Director of User Experience at MRM Worldwide to take up a similar post at Sapient London…

Want, want, want, want….

Spotted outside Habitat on Tottenham Court Road a few months ago, a beautiful Porsche 911 S. Not quite sure what year it was (being way too metrosexual I’m not one of those men who can work out a cars age by the number plate), but anyway it was immaculate and I want it. It is pretty much my dream car, right colour too.

Merry fucking Christmas to you too

This is a picture of the two houses directly opposite mine. What a bunch of cunts.

Yo!

Ello, so I moved house and did some other important / momentous / difficult things in the last 2 weeks. Did you enjoy the boobies? So the new house is almost sorted, though in about six months we are going to knock down about a quarter of it and replace it with 2 shiny new rooms, but all the beautiful old Edwardian bits will be left intact. Before I left I posted a brief comment about Imagine and Dickon Edwards which has prompted him to write a page in response which I think is rather nice (btw the “Why?” wasn’t directed entirely at you, more at the whole thing). I must say I do like his idea that Toby was a BBC House Boy.

Oooh, another random thing is that I’ve signed up for Be broadband (24mb / unlimited) which gets activated tomorrow and is terribly exciting… apparently I can expect to get about 19mb downstream which will be pretty sweet for bittorrent. Santa will also be bringing Ellie (7) her first computer for christmas, a laptop PC, which I’m also pretty excited about and looking forward to showing her how to use it and email me and stuff. Work… trying to wind down for christmas but unlikely as we have apparently something like 15 concurrent pitches on the go, 2 of which I have to have sorted for the second week of Jan, oh dear.

Moving house

So over the next week or so I’m moving house and doing DIY stuff, so while I’m gone, why not look at some boobies on Flickr.

Oh dear I just realised that I’m sat listening to Enter The Dragon and searching t’internet for a place to buy retro Cazal frames. I thought about getting a tattoo the other day, and I want to buy a 70’s Porsche. Early mid life crisis. Sheesh.

How to: Restore a corrupted (by Ultimate Tag Warrior) mySQL Wordpress databse hosted on 1and1 using phpMyAdmin

OK so I’ve been experiencing difficulties with this blog going down. By a process of deduction i worked out that the SQL DB was messing things up, in particular the table wp_postmeta. This is a fix I worked out after failing other online how to’s. The db is restored here table by table as trying to do a buik upload fail time after time.
1. Search your hard drive for the SQL backup that you hope you did recently.

2. Breath a sigh of relief when you find it.

3. Delete your WP install off the server after having backed up images etc etc

4. Resinstall WP.

5. Open the SQL file you backed up into a nice test editor i.e. one that will wrap and colour etc so you can read it clearly. All the tables will be nicely commented to its easy to work out what’s what.

6. Log into phpMyAdmin

7. Select the first table to update ie that one that comes first in the SQL file (the order will match).

8. Copy n paste the contents of the SQL file for the relevant table into the querry box in phpMyAdmin. Hit run or ok… If all go’s well it will tell you. I’f it doesn’t go well this how to will be of now use to you so quit here and start again.

9. Repeat for each table except the table called wp_(optionalprfixforyourblog)postmeta as this is the one that is fucking things up. You may also not want to update the table called wp_(optionalprfixforyourblog)options for obviouis reasons as you have just done a fresh install.

NOTE: If you update the table wp_(optionalprfixforyourblog)users this will change the password to the old one. If you have forgotten it don’t worry, go to log in and follow the mail me my password option and you can get it back.

That is all.
