Screen Resolution and Page Layout (Jakob Nielsen’s Alertbox)
“Summary:
Optimize Web pages for 1024×768, but use a liquid layout that stretches well for any resolution, from 800×600 to 1280×1024.”
I disagree. I just do ok.
So today on our network we discovered a file that ended …v1.7ish.vsd
Note the ‘ish’. I actually like this and propose it as a new international file naming convention standard. It should be used to label work that is based on ‘vague client feedback’ i.e. ‘well this is actually version 1.7 of the wireframes, ish, because I’ve changed it based on client feedback, and well, now I think it’s a pile of shit, so i didn’t want to version it properly’.

Business 2.0: 50 People who matter Though quite how Stuart Butterfield and Caterina Fake rank at number 13 I’m yet to fathom, given the way that the list was apparently constructed. Yet another case of Web 2.0 back slapping?
So in the last few months I’ve had the same conversation with different people, those who would know, that it feels like 1999 again. That’s 1999 in a dot com boom kinda way. I have to agree, here in agency land it feels exactly like that again. So two things to look forward too then: Will we get the same insane pay rises we did then (and change jobs every six months), and how long before we can look forward to our next redundancy payment? Cynical, me?
